The Importance of Paper Envelopes for Businesses

For companies, paper envelopes are even more essential, as they are used for numerous tasks related to clients, suppliers, and administrative processes. That’s why we have dedicated a section to this essential stationery item, offering a wide variety at the best prices. Below, we’ll explore some key aspects, including the most common types of paper envelopes and how to make one yourself.

Types of Paper Envelopes

By size, material, finish, or closure type—each paper envelope is unique, and understanding these differences will help you find the perfect option for your needs.

Envelope Sizes

The range of paper envelope sizes is extensive. The largest standard envelope is C3 (457 x 324 mm), which can easily fit A3-sized documents.

C4 envelopes (229 x 324 mm) are perfect for A4 documents, making them a common choice in academic and institutional settings. Below this, there are smaller sizes such as C5, C6, C7, miniature sizes, special DL formats, and even square envelopes for specific uses.

Types of Paper: Kraft, Luxury, and More

The material of an envelope determines its best use. The most basic option is standard white paper, typically weighing 120 g/m². Paper envelopes are also available in a range of finishes and darker shades for different presentation styles.

Kraft paper envelopes are another widely used type. Kraft paper, also known as "estraza," is made from wood pulp, giving it a firmer texture and greater resistance. It is commonly used for food packaging but has also gained popularity in envelope manufacturing.

Luxury paper envelopes are another option, ideal for special occasions or high-profile recipients. A notable example is Tyvek envelopes, which are made from synthetic materials instead of cellulose. This makes them highly tear-resistant and waterproof, offering superior protection for important documents.

Envelope Finishes

This category is incredibly diverse, with endless creative possibilities. These envelopes are designed to stand out at first glance and are often used for gifting. They can hold greeting cards, event tickets, or even money.

Some popular finishes include:

• Pastel-colored envelopes
• Neon envelopes with bold tones
• Reflective or glossy textures
• Pearlescent envelopes
• Lined envelopes for an extra touch of elegance

Additionally, kraft paper envelopes can also be used for gifts, as long as they have a refined and special design.

Envelope Closure Types

Another factor that defines an envelope is its closure type. Some of the most popular options include:

• String and button closure – Ideal for gifts, offering a stylish and practical design.
• V-flap with self-adhesive – A convenient and secure option for various uses.
• Gusseted envelopes – Available with string closures or self-adhesive seals, these are perfect for storing documents with volume.

Beyond these, there are also special-purpose envelopes, such as X-ray envelopes, lens envelopes, and machine insertion envelopes.
